Default Drivers seat memory/settings

About the only thing my driver’s seat remembers is that it’s in the car and if I push a button it moves. My 3rd C5, only have it about a month. I have followed every procedure for reprogramming the seat functions but the system is reluctant to remember anything, and I’m no stranger to these cars.
  1. The seat does not retract on it’s own, but the steering wheel does.
  2. Push the #1 button, the seat moves a little and the steering wheel comes out to greet me. However the seat is still not where I want it. I push the #1 button again and seat moves 1/4”. Does that a few times, then moves about an inch, then returns to the ‘short cycle’ . I have to keep hitting the button until I finally get the seat where I programmed it a dozen times.
  3. Shut down: steering wheel goes back to the dash, seat backs up an inch <sometimes> and I get to start the process over.
  4. The #2 button is just as creative as #1.
  5. I only have 1 fob, the #2 from the previous owner. I don’t remember if the fobs have anything to do with the seat retraction and/or the driving position.
  6. Is there a way to completely wipe out any memory and start over? I know the reprogram procedure very well, so I’ve eliminated that as a solution.
FWIW, I have both seats in the basement for some upholstery repair/reno and will gladly inspect/test anything that could be helpful
In addition the passenger seat lumbar pump’s wires are not connected. I tried to see if it would work if I reconnected the wires. It did not but I will try again in the workshop. If it’s toast, are there any connections that might be the best place to disconnect it?. My passengers never use it and it won’t be missed. The drivers side works.
Thank you all,
ChasG
