Default C5 Seat Adjustment

Looking for help with an issue, search didn't produce my exact issue.

I have a 2004 C5 with 22k miles on it. My car has the sport seats, and every function works on the driver's seat except the front up/down. It is stuck in the up position. If I try to lower it I can feel the motor click and torque like it is trying to do something but doesn't.

Is there a way I can take the seat out and try to free it up or manually lower it? It is fairly uncomfortable being in that position.

Thanks in advance!

You have of course looked underneath to make sure nothing is propping it up (?)

The seat is removed by running it forward, removing the rail covers in back and removing the nuts holding it down, then running it back and doing the same at the front.
You might want to disconnect the battery at this point as any contact with the controls will make the seat move unannounced.
There are two electrical connectors beneath. They can be accessed by propping up the front of the seat. Disconnect these and the seat is free. Be careful taking it out as the rails can scar your door panel etc..

The lift mechanism underneath looks like this (with the seat in the lowered position).

The worm drive pushes the clevis and turns the cross shaft to lift the front of the seat; (same at back).

Hopefully your issue presents itself readily. Good luck.

What Rich said, but add to it that the clevis is plastic and broken. C&S Corvette has billet aluminum replacements — and I seem to recall someone makes steel ones as well. They are not free by any means, so you might want to verify before ordering.
Vettenuts has a good photo of the base:

Thanks for the info, I have had my seat out as the car was a flood car but none of the motors got wet. I wanted to figure out what the issue may be before I pull it all out again.

I will pull it and see if I can see what is bound up, I doubt it is the clevis because if that was broken I would think the motor would still turn and just not move. Honestly if I can disconnect it and get it down all the way that is fine too.
