I am new to the Corvette scene. Just gor my 1st C5 a 1998. The other day I painted the front calipers while they were still mounted take precautions to tape and cover areas not to be painted. After I did that I started randomly getting the service traction control and ABS error with code TCS c1243 intermittently and now it is constant. Could this be a coincidence or could I have knocked something loose.
What color did you paint the calipers?
1243 is a stalled ABS motor.
Check for some threads about that code. They all have ideas on how to exercise the ABS motor.
I personally use the lifted tail method with the wheels on. Has always worked for me.
Best of luck. 98's the best year!
My car is silver with black and silver wheels so I kept with the same theme and painted the calipers black and sanded the raised lettering.
O.K., clearly you already have enough on your plate, but my ‘99 is silver, and I contemplate gloss black and polished lettering, so — when you have the time! — a couple of photos would be awesome!
No Problem. Something I learned to make it easier, after you have everything taped off rum chapstick lightly on the letters before painting the calipers. Once the paint dries you can simply rub the paint off of the letters.
