I have a 2003 C5. I noticed that when I brake torque to launch the car from a stop it feels like it is cutting power when I press the brake and accelerator at the same time. Is this normal behavior for a C5? I thought I should be able to brake torque to launch the car. I have an automatic transmission. My traction control does not work and the ABS as well.

 

Yes, an automatic C5 Corvette can do a brake torque (or a burnout) by using the left foot to hold the brake while applying throttle, but it's tough on the stock 4L60-E transmission, especially if modified; owners suggest it's a good idea to upgrade the transmission and especially rebuild the torque tube bushings to handle the stress, as they are a known weak point.

Something is wrong.

 

There is a setting in the tune file that needs to be changed. It’s called Brake Torque Management. It limits throttle even with the TC and ABS off.

Turned off, you can power brake easily.
