While working on updating all of my interior lights on my 2003 z06, I noticed that the interior trunk switch on the left side of the steering wheel has a bulb. I was not aware that this switch lit up, but the OEM bulb wasn't illuminating it. I thought the bulb had burnt out so I tried one of my new updated LED bulbs from Vette Lights with no luck. I also switched the polarity multiple times and turned on the ignition to see if it worked... with no luck. I cannot seem to get any bulb to work in this slot, but the trunk release button works perfectly fine even with the lighting issue. This doesn't seem normal to me, but I wanted to consult the experts! Any tips, or do I just have to replace the switch if I want one with a working backlight? Not sure if it matters, but some vettes have a switch above the trunk release that I do not have. Thanks!
Are the switches different by year? I have a 2004 convertible so I have the combined fog light/trunk release switch. When the lights are on, both buttons illuminate, however only the fog lights have an amber on/off indicator bulb. Are you saying that the little car/trunk button is not backlit? If so, you may need to replace the switch.
For reference, the OEM switch plate for my 2004 is GM Part #12135155.
