The improvement in intakes occurred in 2001 when the Z06 came to be. This intake is now standard on the LS1's as well as the LS6's. The improvement on
a pre-2001 is about 10+hp. This intake accounted for the increase hp on the LS1 from 345 to 350. Because of the improvements of this intake, the cam profile on the LS1's was changed to provide more low end torque with a slight reduction in power at the upper end. Hence the reason this intake provides a little more hp on the older LS1's which use the earlier cam profile.

That isnt the whistle I am talking about. The 01 LS6 intake whistles while cruising. It can be annoying...
With the Super Charger, my car whines... overbearing the whistle from the 01 LS6 intake.
