Ignition Switch Issues
I’ve been dealing with this problem since last summer. A shop recently traced it to the ignition switch and quoted me about $500 to replace it, so I decided to do it myself.
Today I installed a new ignition switch (GM Genuine Part from RockAuto). After installing it, the car started and idled perfectly, which was great. However, when I tried to drive to the gas station, the car cut out as soon as I pulled out of the parking spot. I’ve never had this happen before.
I checked the battery connections, and they seem fine. Now I’m wondering if I may have gotten a bad part.
For some background: last summer, I tried replacing the ignition switch with one from Amazon, which ended up being faulty. This time, I went with a “GM Genuine” part to avoid that issue. Visually, though, the new switch looks almost identical to the Amazon one, just with a different part number. It also looks different from the photo on RockAuto’s website; the one I received is all black and came in a GM Genuine box.
Before I start a return, I wanted to see what you all think. Does this sound like another bad ignition switch, or should I be looking somewhere else? Also, if you have recommendations for a truly reliable source for this part, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks for any advice you have

And it doesnt matter where you buy electrons parts its a hit or miss. But diagnosed is a 100% and not guessing if the parts are good or bad.
Hopefully you did not throw your oem switch away.
