Default Kooks Green Headers

I know they're probably the most expensive option, but does anyone have experience with the Kooks system with green cats? Specifically interested in limiting potential exhaust/gas smell in the cabin.

Not sure I understand. Is there a problem you are trying to resolve? Are you currently running without cats?

no, sorry, I'm looking to add a full exhaust system. Ive been in some stinky headers cars, and prefer to not want to shower after driving the car. So im looking for input if the kooks green cats would be the best to avoid stink or if its more a good tune.

I have no cats, and the smell isn't overwhelming by any means. I think the tune has a lot to do with that. Also, I started driving in the late 60s, motorcycles and cars, so I'm used to the smell. IIRC, the Kooks cats are VERY expensive. Just my opinion...

Got it. I'm not familiar with their "green" option, other than it appears to align with EPA requirements...perhaps for California. Just having cats will reduce the exhaust smell, so just go with whatever standard hi flow cats they offer. For a street car, it really makes zero sense to not run cats. You will only realize extra horsepower *****-out on a dyno or tracking. Plenty of cars out there making making big numbers with long tubes and cats.

I've never noticed a raw gas smell with high flow/Green Cats.

Catless, absolutely. I don't even want to drive my C6Z with no Cats and a big cam sometimes because of the smell

I'm a Kooks dealer with some in stock - happy to help with a set!

I have LG high flow cats from 2005, technology is probably different these days. I don’t have any smell in the cabin, but people who cruise behind me say it’s a little stinky. Definitely get some green cats, it also keeps the noise level down a little if you have one of the louder axle backs like b&b bullets or Corsa extremes.

I do have an American Racing Header + xpipe for C5 Corvette in stock ready to ship with off road catless connections if you want to go that route. Your tune and fueling will influence how stinky your setup truly is on the outside. As long as your windows are up you shouldn't have fuel smell unless you have an exhaust leak.

I ran no cats on a big cam c6z and it was fairly stinky. My friend's C6Z with no cats made my eyes water when I stood behind it idling for over a minute lol. His tune was reeeaaaalll RICH.

Kooks green cats are not legal in California or NY. Kooks green cats are 48 state federally certified. Check your local ordinances to confirm legality to run on the street. Federally certified cats are not necessarily street legal in certain parts of the US if you want to be really particular. Kooks green cats are your ideal option if you want to maximize smell reduction and have the 48 state EPA certified stamp on the cat. If you plan on running boost, these cats can handle up to 750rwhp, even with boost. The standard high flow cats are limited to 550rwhp. If you introduce boost to your standard high flow cats, your 1 year Kooks cat warranty is void. If you add boost to your Kooks GREEN cats, your 2 year Kooks cat warranty remains, as long as your under 750rwhp.

Currently, I have the following Kooks headers in stock ready to ship, which have the standard high flow cats. Again, good for up to 550rwhp, n/a. Not the more robust GREEN cats. If you are not boosting I think they are a fine option. If you need maximum stink reduction, do the GREEN cats.
Kooks 1-3/4" Headers for C5 Corvette with high flow catted xpipe and emissions fittings 2152H220
Kooks 1-7/8" Headers for C5 Corvette with high flow catted xpipe and emissions fittings 2150H420

I'm a fully authorized dealer for Kooks, ARH & more would love to go over options and dealer pricing in detail together.

Dunno about the Green cats, but I have an older Kooks system (headers, catted midpipe, mufflers) and they don't have the smell you're thinking of.

The drone is terrible though - I wouldn't recommend their mufflers.
