Steering angle sensor adjustment
I refurbished my steering rack recently and got it bolted back to the car (1999 C5). Before I put it in to the car, I checked it was centered by measuring turning rounds from the shaft and bringing it to the exact middle of that.
Now I found out my steering wheel shaft needs to be rotated 90 degrees to fit into the steering rack shaft. That error must be done by me installing the gear shaft into the rack in wrong position.
Removing the rack and disassembling it is such a major task that I'm trying to figure out a way to get around that. If I remove the steering shaft, can the steering angle sensor be turned 90 degrees on that to bring it back to 2,5 V voltage in the center?

Unfortunately I don't know if you can get around it being 90 degrees off. 180, more-so yes, but with 90 you're going to have an issue with tie rod ends being pretty far off while the steering wheel is centered.
To answer your original question: the SWPS isn't "keyed" to the shaft. If you take the steering column off you can then slide/pull off the SWPS. With the SWPS centered/zeroed and the steering wheel centered you can then slide/push the SWPS back on the shaft.

Anyway, now I'm disassembling stuff to get the steering rack on the table again.
