Second owner of my C5. I believe the original owner had a chrome hood liner attached to the underside using what looks like hot glue or some sort of silicon. Anyway as you can see in the photo, the chrome cover is gone and I want to peel these globs off - they are stuck on there pretty good. Any suggestions on peeling them off? perhaps a solvent?
Kinda hard to make a recommendation if you cannot identify the adhesive used. Perhaps you can research who offers the chrome hold liner and what is used to keep it in place.
Gotcha, I was hoping that someone would have already gone through this process. I'll do further research.....
I would try Goof-Off Citrus gunk remover solution first and if that doesn't work try Goof-Off petroleum based solution. Soak the gunk and then try removing with a fishing line. Similar process used when owners have removed the body-side moldings which used automotive adhesive.
Since no one knows what type of adhesive that is, I would try with the less-toxic citrus-based gunk remover first.
Remove as much as possible with razor, etc. and then try one of these. It uses heat from the rotating rubber to soften glue, but doesnt't burn through the clearcoat.
