Default Need help w/ Blackwing

I am trying to install a new Blackwing on my 02 coupe and am having a problem with the MAF. The metal ring on the MAF is the same size as the Blackwing plastic inlet. The rubber cuff clamp is designed to circle the Blackwing plastic inlet and the MAF slides inside the rubber assembly. This won't work as the metal ring on the MAF is the same diameter as the Blackwing housing. Has anyone out there had a similar issue and can you please HELP :banghead:

Thanks in advance

Did you get the adaptor for the 2001+ cars?

NOOOOO I did not get any adapters. Did not know one was required. Bought from LAPD, would have thought that if a $&%@@^ adapter was required for my car thay would have told me :smash: :mad

Well now that I have the whole stock assembly out I guess I will putting it back :cry

Thanks for the help

I had the same problem with the Blackwing I ordered from the LAPD Group Purchase. Even if you specified 2001+ it likely didn't have the adapter (I luckily noticed this before I took apart the stock box). Email/call Shawn at LAPD and he will send you the part. Unfortunately he would not overnight it to me so I will have to wait till next week to install, a bit disappointed there but at least I will have the right parts.

:withstupid: Ya need the adapter....that one you have is for the Pre-01 years with the 3.5" opening....the adapter for the Post-'01 cars have a 4" opening and need this adapter....it's basically a round piece of rubber.
