In a past issue of vette it showed recent things from SEMA. I noticed an ad for an 8-speed automatic. SEMA has some crazy concepts and I thought this was another. So I went to the website after I saw this and they gave me a catalog informing me. It came from Gear Vendors under/overdrive. They have won several awards and been mentioned in several notorious magazines (visit www.gearvendors.com for more). It is a very intriguing concept and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this?
-P.S. in the catalog they said "Z-06, no match, and they'll hear the ratios when you scream by." -I bet your a lot more excited now
The make overdrive units that go usually on the output shaft of the trans to the drive shaft. I know a few Lightings that run them for high speed driving. I think the One Lap truck had two on it so it could idle @160.
If I understand this correctly, the 4L60E tranny is still the weak point. A nice converter and say 3.15 gears seems to do much of what this unit advertises for much less than $3800. Of course, it doesn't have the same coolness factor. Having to rebuild or upgrade the tranny is a possibility for either scenario, right?
So Ive gone through both posts and I guess everyone knows what it is now, but has anyone seen this thing in action or atleast have a friend who has heard about it in action?
