had rotors on for a while but have noticed that sometimes they squeak a little.
i can hear them when i come to a stop. but i also hear them when i going as little as 2-3mph even when im not touching the brakes. can someone give me advice on what this may be. also im using stock pads. is there any larger pads avail. because i dont like the way the only use part of the rotor. one part gets worn the other stays the same.
Re: have problem with baer eradispeed rotors (troy'sC5)
I know nothing about brakes, but I remember reading or hearing that the only reason brakes squeak is because something (pads?) is loose. Help this helps, and I'm sure others will chime in.

The brake pads are sized to the caliper and the caliper must mast the rotor diameter. The only was to install a larger pad is to change out calipers and then possibly rotors might have to follow. :banghead: Even you OEM solid rotors only get worn on part of their surface.
The Eradispeeds are reputed to be one of the best drilled/slotted rotors on the market. Why not call them up and ask about the squeeking?
Me, all I hear are different sets of issues with all brands of drilled/slotted rotors so I've opted to stick with my OEM rotors. Besides, my ceramic pads eat up rotors and the Eradispeeds are not cheap.

If your rotors are new, you will have to wear through the zinc plating completely on the surface before they quiet down. It took mine about 500 miles to wear through the plating. Did you re-use an existing set of stock pads ? If so did you scuff up the friction surface of the pad prior to reinstalling, you have to break the "glaze" on the pad and allow them to reseat properly. Did you use silicone lube on all the mating surfaces between the pad backing plate and the caliper and mounting bridge ? Did you re-lube the slider pins with the silicone lube ? All of these things can cause a squeel like you are experiencing. By your question about contact surface, I assume that you got the Eradispeed Plus 1"s on the rear. These rotors using stock pads and calipers only contact about 50% of the friction surface. There is nothing you can do about it. I saw a thread about adapting a caliper bridge to allow use of front calipers on the rear for larger contact with these rotors. NOT recommended due to major front / rear proportioning problems resulting from different caliper sizes and resulting ABS problems.
