Having an issue with the check engine light coming on. Both the car diagnostic and the scope say it is the knock sensors. I had both knock sensors replaced. The light is still coming on. Also had the ECM replaced. I use only 93 octane gas and add fuel additives [Techron, etc.]. Took a 1500-mile trip. The car got 25mpg. I cannot hear any pinging or knocking. Any thoughts on how to get the light to stay off and or what is the remedy?

Did you replace the knock sensor harness? Did you torque the sensors carefully to the exact spec?
Thank you for the response. There have been no mods on the engine. I did not do the work. Yes, it had a new harness installed. The mechanic told me there is too much carbon built up on the cylinders because the car sat for too long. It only had 26K miles when I bought it last year. It has 33K now.
Well, one option is to have someone with HP tuners modify the engine computer and desensitize the knock sensors.
It is possible that it gets better with time, but who knows. I would look around the engine bay and the exhaust to make sure nothing is loose. Any noise in the system at all will transfer back to the knock sensors.
Engine mounts probably aren't in great condition with this age. I would look into replacing them to minimize any drivetrain shake.

Cars do not carbon up sitting around. If you have carbon you have a running issue.
In the last several years there has been a recurring issue with NEW AC Delco knock sensors causing our cars to throw knock sensor fault codes (plus check engine light). The solution for many here including myself has been to install NAPA Echlin DKS238 knock sensors.
