with my VORTEX. Was cleaning up the engine compartment last night, and noticed some "stuff' (E.g., dog hair, small leaves, etc.) at the top of the shroud (between it and the AC condensor coils).
Took the VORTEX off, and the shroud - and found a LOT of 'stuff' had been sucked into this area.
Anyone else have this problem (with 'sucking' debris into this area)?
Is this a normal situation, or if not, is there a remedy?
As a note, once I left the Vette set for a full summer, and found that a bird had built a nest on top of the VORTEX, but that's a different situation from this one.
a bird???? damn where you live...  glad you didn't start it up with Tweety in there or you woulda had a whole nother kinda mess

on a different note, Yes, my vortex sucks up all kind of rad debris. I have the ACI chin spoiler on mine, with screens over the holes. Doesnt stop everything but I dont have to worry about birds.
That happens. Avoid running over trash (especially plastic grocery bags) with your car. I ran over a plastic bag which got sucked in and wrapped halfway around the K & N in my Proflow+. The engine would barely run until I figured out what happened. The first symptom was finding the rubber bellows on the intake collapsed on itself.
Thanks everyone! The issue is not when driving do I get the 'debris' which I discussed: this happened in my garage (at least I beleive so as some of the debris was exactly the same as what was under the car on the garage floor).
As to the birds nest: happened when I was in Brazil: left the Vette sit at the house, in the garage, for almost three (3) months. I had left a 'small' opening (for air flow as here in Texas is a necessity, since when it's summer it's HOT, as in full blast in a coal furnance) between the garage door and the cement.
If the battery had not gone totally dead, thus requiring me to open the hood in an endeavor to charge the battery back to life, I might never have noticed this invasion!
All ended well (for the bird and me). The bird had 'flown', with its brood, and my battery took a charge with no issues.
Whenever I take a drive and the autumn leaves are all over the road, they get sucked in between the shroud and the condensor coils. After I pull into the garage and shut off the car, I can hear leaves hitting the floor. Once the fan suction is off, anything being held against the condensor can start to fall out and you'll find it under the car below the shroud. Obviously, some of it gets jammed into the crevice and into the Vortex or what ever open-shroud intake you may have.
