Default Installing column lock bypass

After having the dreaded column lock problem several times in the past month I'm ready to order the bypass, but I was just curious how it installed. The one I saw came with a cigerate lighter adapter. Does it plug into the cigerate lighter? I really don't want to have somthing running from the cigerate lighter. With all the people I've seen that have and recommend this fix it should be an easy question :D Thanks a ton in advance!

The cig lighter adapter is only used to disengage the lock during the install, which is easy and straightfoward. After the install, the adapter is no longer needed but keep it in case you ever need to remove and then reinstall the CLB.

And you can even install the bypass without using the cigarette lighter plug thingy if you want to save yourself a step!!

(this will make more sense when you get your CLB kit)
In the step where you use the cigarette lighter plug to disengage the column lock.......... simply turn on the ignition to run without starting the car (which will disengage the column lock system) and then pull the 4pin connector under the dash. Turn off the ignition. Install the CLB. Turn on the ignition to run and make sure you don't hear the buzz. Turn off the ignition. You will set a DIC code, so simply pull the negative cable on the battery, count to 10, reinstall and walla. The DIC code is set because you cycled the ignition without the column lock system installed. This won't hurt anything!!

I used this method due to the possibility of shorting something out with the 12v cigarette lighter wire thing.

Did the A4's have a column lock issue or just MN6's? Also anyone know the ratio of column lock problems to CAGS users?

just a thought...
