I am new to the whole corvette scene, so i don't know too much about them yet. I heard that you can lower the car using the stock bolts. Would anyone be able to send me detailed directions on how to do this? im looking for about 1in. drop all around if possible, maybe a little less. you can E-mail me at BColecchi@aol.com if that is any easier. Thank you.
You should be carful to lower each side the same amount. If one screw only goes in 2 turns, and the other 3, you should only do 2 on both sides. Similarly in the rear. Although the cars are not "scaled" at the factory, I still feel it is better to keep the car as "square" as possible.
If you have access to scales, you can lower the front all the way, then adjust the corner weights at the rear. That is the way I do it. There is no way to do this without scales.
well not bs but i guess this is what i read. From david farmer "I recommend NOT trying the 1/2" bolt method. I size difference is just enought that the rubber dampers will eventually come apart." http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...434665#1434665
"After I lowered my car, I can't seem to get any traction at all at WOT at any speed under 50 mph.
I knew it would hurt weight transfer some, but is there anything I can do to get some traction back? Any ideas?
Thanks
"
No bs here with what i saw... I simply stated what i saw

I don't think that they saying you were BS'ing, but over all that statement gets a resounding :bs :bs Too many cars have done it and too many cars have been like that for years with no problems. David Farmer races his car a lot, he is the only guy that says don't use 1/2" bolts, most of these cars will never see race action like that. The only other people that might say don't use the 1/2" bolts are the vendors who want you to pay over $30 for their 9/16" kits.
ok after all i was asking ... if there was a negative to think about with this mod.
Absolutely not. You will probably have to cut 2/3 of the front bushings to get the front low enough. Try turning the bolts, drive it around the block and measure from the ground to the well through the middle of the wheel. I was not happy with the front so I bought the longer bolts for the rear and cut 2/3 of the bushings and the looks alone is worth millions IMO. You wil have to take some driveways etc. at an angle but if you are careful you will be :D :D :D :D :D
Take a look at my sig. Before I lowered you could stick your head and your thigh in the gap. It looked ridiculous
