Hello, haven't posted here in a while but need your expertise.......I have a 99 triple black convertible which needs new front tires and an oil change. I know I need new tires, as one has a very slow leak. I also know it's time for an oil change. I plan to buy the tires and get an oil change next month, but is there any way I can temporarily SHUT OFF the DIC as it is driving me batty???!!!!! Every time I start the car, I get the change oil now message. Then after I turn that off, I get the low tire pressure message EVERY TEN MINUTES. I put air in the tire and then it's fine for a while and then it happens all over again. Does the person who programmed the DIC think we are so stupid that we need to be reminded of something every ten minutes? What is up with that? Is there ANY way to disengage the DIC temporarily? I am TIRED of pushing buttons! I can't ignore them, they flash at me until I turn them off........
To stop the change oil warning, just reset the oil life. With the ignition on, but car NOT running, go to the oil life remaining screen and hold reset until it resets.
For the tire pressure warning, there is no way to shut it off except to put air in the tire.
Actually, I just read another post asking the same question about the DIC. For example, what if you didn't have the tire pressure gauges put in the tires? There is a way to turn the DIC off, but I think it's via computer programming?
You can't turn the whole DIC function off, but you can disable the PCM or BCM from sending the errors to the DIC if it is a programmable function. A Tech 2 programmer is usually required to do this.
>>>Yes, that´s very easy.
Get some silver or black duct tape at Home Depot and cut a piece of 3-4 inches.
Stick that over the display.
That should fix it. <<<
Hey! Thats the same method we used to fix the flashing 12:00 on my Grandma's VCR. :D
