Can somebody please tell me where to add fluid to an A4 tranny on a 2000 coupe. I have looked all over the tranny, but don't see the fill port. Can you pour it in, or do you have to pump it in? :nonod:
Just did this about two weeks ago on mine. There is a plug (bolt) on the drivers side of the car on the tranny pan. To refill you must pump it in through this hole. I bought a MityVac from Pep Boys for about $10 and worked out well.
A pump is required. The change is not difficult although you should read the procedure prior to attempting this service. Getting the vehicle up high enough to work underneath is crucial.
Yes it is, manual says to hold the brake and shift into each gear position for 5 seconds, then return to park and check. It's not that bad to crawl under the car while it's running - the driveshaft is inside the torque tube, there's no moving parts to watch out for in the back - just don't burn yourself on the hot exhaust. I didn't have any problems, and that was when I was far from a mechanic.
