Default smooth flow duct install help?

i just got a silicone smooth flow air duct replacing the accordian shaped factory piece to accomedate my blackwing and i noticed there is a sensor on the left side that connects to the fuel pressure regulator. there is no hole for it in the silicone duct. do i need to make a hole? i know this is a junior varsity question but any help would be great, my wife thinks i got ripped off. they are kinda pricee...but it is a vette.

Being 900+ miles away from my Vette, :cry I'm having a problem visualizing what you're looking at. I think you're talking about the Intake Air Temperature sensor. If so, all you have to do to mount it is to make a small hole in your duct and push it into that hole.

If you could give a bit more detail (how many wires, size of sensor, etc) we might be able to help a bit more.

HTH,
Mike

Don't bother with them. With the LS-1's MAF-based computations, the IAT is primarily a backup sensor that's used when the MAF has failed. When that happens the system reverts to a speed-density mode, which uses IAT, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP), RPM, and probably a few others I'm leaving out.

So, I don't think you'll see any performance improvement with an aftermarket IAT in a MAF-based system.

Have a good one,
Mike

It sounds like you are talking about the plastic tube that supplies vacuum to the fuel pressure regulator (this leans the mixture at high rpm). Defineatly punch a hole in your duct a seal carefully so there are no air leaks.

Some of the vendors sell a thing called a "fuel recurve" line. It allows you to take off vacumn for the fuel pressure regulator from the other side of the throttle body. Many after market air filters cause a drop in vacumn in front of the TB which richens the A/F mix. The recurve line takes the vacumn off behind the TB which helps maintain the proper A/F mix.

i used a punch and made a small hole in the coupler, it was a b8tch to get in but it stayed tight.
make the hole about the same distance from the TB as the stock piece.

no i dont have that coupler any more i used it when i had a blackwing.
the T1 came with its own smooth coupler and for some reason my check engine light hasnt come back on. what i did was to take the damn thing off and start over and reinstall. since then (and after you told me about oil in the MAF) i havent thrown a code hmmm??? but that was good advice i "carefully"cleaned the MAF and i think that was the problem. thanx bro
