knocking and pinging when turned off
When I turn off the engine my vette knocks and pings for 2-3 seconds. Other vettes (c5) I drove did the same. I was told its normal. Is this true?

If it is an M6 and the clutch is in, it will demonstrate drive train rattles when you turn it off, but no engine knocks. It the engine knocks it is not normal.
If it an M6 and it is in neutral and the clutch is out, it should not rattle when turned off. :cheers:

It sounds like you have one or more leaky injectors. ignition cutoff also cuts power to fuel injectors. It is not normal to get any kind of run-on. I suspect dirty injectors. My C5 will hold fuel pressure overnight.

I'd say not normal even with a manual trans. I've never experienced it in almost 2 years. If you have a good mechanic you trust, have them check it out. If not try a reliable dealer.

I haven't had a car do that in over 20 years. From what you are describing this is a lot more than the drive train rattle that all 6 speeds have when they are turned off.

"...normal" Huh? This isn't normal for ANY engine run on the correct fuel. M
My '01 with 16K miles never has knocked or pinged, running or turned off. However, I use nothing less then 93-92 octane fuel.
