Default gauge lighting

I ran the ground from the two autometer gauges to the brown/white stripe wire on the active handling to the allow for dimming. This works most of the time. Sometimes it will turn off after a couple of minutes. If I turn the lights off an on again the light will relight. Sometimes it stays on for 5 minutes, other times it works flawlessly.

Help.

I had the same problem. The dimming switch and dash lights are pretty complex. It is detecting too many amps going in that direction and cutting the circuit. I just disconnected the traction control button light and it all works fine now. The other option is some type of transistor setup with an acc power source, the dash light actually pulse at a very high rate to give the dimming effect.

How did you do that? Did you pull the orange or the brown? Did you just disconnect it from the connector, or did you cut it?

Don’t remember all the details, it’s been a long time, but I did just glance at how it is setup. There is an orange and brown wire right next to each other on the plug that goes into the plastic panel. I have the brown wire coming out of the pug capped off (I think that is the ground, but not sure). I then have the gauge wires spliced into the brown and orange wires. For some reason I left the orange wire still going into the plug, but I think I just snipped the brown wire as a quick fix, after having it all spliced together with intermittent failures.

I would keep the orange wire connected also, since it might be needed in the buttons operation.
