Convertible here. With GHLs, X-pipe, A4. And Supercharger.

The stock exhaust with the A&A had a 2500rpm resonance, and to me sounded like a blown out muffler. However I do have an X-pipe in place of the cats. A previous C5 with cats and Flowmasters also had a 2500rpm resonance.

The GHLs don't have a 2500rpm resonance, they have a 1500rpm resonance. The mufflers are small drums, the tailpipes are like small tubas (I know, like a little kid I tried them out in the living room when they arrived. I occasionally have maturity problems. ;) ). With an A4 and vert, the boomy 1500rpm sound (imagine small tubas coming out of small hollow drums) is a bit loud, shifting is required if the car tries to cruise at that rpm. However I'm putting cats back on and that should drop the noise level a bit and get rid of the raw gas/MTBE smell.

I am new to posting on the forum ... My signature needs work ... I have read a lot on the forum about GHL and other systems. I am returning what I have learned ! I chose the GHL's based on sound, quality of product, reputation and viewpoints on the forum.
The GHL's are great, love the sound, fit and finish is top quality. I have the MagnaFlow Xpipe as recomended by L.A.P.D. An important note is that the S/O loves the sound as well !
I do have some resonance at 1500 rpm, I do not have any popping on decel. WOT is just plain music to the ears. My contact with GHL was great, could not have asked any better from a vendor. The entire buying experience from Shawn at L.A.P.D. was the best, period. :hurray:

1KLRTOY... I had to remove the sunvisors so my ape like head could see out of the winshield (I am 6'5"). It made a world of difference in my view...

The GHLs and Stingers are the only straight-through designs that I'm aware of, the other mufflers have the in and out the same end.
Supersprint from Italy also make a similar exhaust with two different tip designs.

C5 Frederik already once posted some pics of the Supersprint exhaust, but I'll post them again directly from http://www.supersprint.com

Update - had stock cats put back in and the x-pipe out. It's a softer sound now, no more 1500rpm resonance (the loud hum that rattles your skull and makes your GF give you 'the look'). Much quieter on the freeway also, however SOTP feel says I lost a little freeway power, though torque feels the same. No more skanky raw gas/MTBE smell.

Due to the reduced noise, I did experience an additional psychological loss of power. However I drive it a little harder now, since it doesn't sound like it's always floored. I'm not so worried about those just-came-into-view-right-as-I-goose-it cop cars. :leaving:

Almost forgot - I was clued in by another forum member about the tailpipes being different, I thought they were identical. My passenger side was angled and short by 1/2", even when the headpipe muffler section was pulled apart too far. Swapping the tailpipes helped greatly, but didn't completely fix it. Now I can push the headpipe and muffler together correctly, but the tailpipe still 1/2" short and angled. The headpipes and mufflers are obvious as far as which side they fit on, there's no marking on the tailpipe pieces.

I purchased from L.A.P.D.(Shawn) and I never regretted it.I also installed a Magna Flow X pipe at the same time.I don't really feel any difference in power, but Ireally like the tone emitted from the GHL's.The stock exhaust sounded like I was running a couple of coffee cans for mufflers. My GHL's got a little louder when I drive around town for a while, but after a run for about 200 miles on the freeway, they "mellow out".INSTALL them, you won't be sorry. When you first start the car up ,they will seem louder then they really are, because you are "tuned" in to hearing the coffee cans.I have a friend that modded his car and they sound really great. The mods seem to make them sound even better. :chevy :chevy :flag :flag :chevy :chevy

I just put mine on last night. The car has almost all the bolt ons, TPIS headers, weld in x-pipe, and 3.5" round tip GHLs. I have only 1 complaint, I want to keep the loud down pedal down and the revs over 4k rpm :D :blueangel:

The car sounds very nice, and quiet in the cabin. Install went smoothly too. I went with the GHLs having never heard a set, but knew I like the stingers. I thing the GHL is a little deeper than the stingers, and with less interior noise. You will love this exhaust and to top it off fewer people are running GHLs compared to Corsa and Borla.

I got the 4 inch and the MagnaFlow X Pipe from L.A.P.D. - Shawn. They're awesome and Shawn was great. He got them to me at least a week sooner than I thought it would take.

I'm going to take heat for this statement, but the only thing that sounds better to me is my son's Z06.
