Default Question for V1 Hardwired Install

Does the detector shut off AND turn on with the ignition? I'd love to not need to bother cranking it on and off every time I enter and exit the car. Spring break's next week, and I've gotta get my projects lined up.

I used the Switched 12v source in the passenger footwell. This means that the detector comes on when the engine is started and off when you shut down.

1. The V1 comes with a hardwaire module, stick that down in the footwell, wired to the 12v switched wire.

2. Route the phone cable (comes with V1) , under the carpet, and up to the passenger b-pillar, along the b pillar, across the upper windshield, and out by the mirror.

Looks awsome. Here are some directions I used:

There are three wires above the computer in the passenger kick panel area. One is a ground. Then there is a "hot wire" that has continuous powere and a "ignition only" wire that will only have power when the ignition is on. I used this wire to connect the V-1 (as described in the above post) and have had no problems since (your owners manual should detail the specific color wire to use - at least the 2003 manual did).

I also ran the remote V-1 display into my ash-tray and it works great. Good luck with the project.

:iagree:
Excellent resource. I couldn't get the suction cups to stick on the windshield, so I ended up putting together a custom visor mount for very little $:

Yeah, it's best to get it hardwired and never have to worry about it again. I just went to a stereo shop and they said it was a snap to do...less than an hour and I was on my way.

I hardwired the V1 voltage converter to the power source under the headliner above the rear-view mirror. Power to the C5 shuts off after about 15 minutes which will turn off the V1.
