mallet has a carbon fiber hood that looks just like the OEM one, if thats what your looking for, I prefer the motorcity mold but i thought id let you know about this one in case its wut your looking for

STOCK Hood N/A: 13.47

The vent is functional, which helps keep underhood temps down. I'd guess that would be responsible for most of the savings.

I think the Mallett hood in the photo is made by Motor City, to Mallett's specifications (I think I remember Mike at Motor City telling me that). However, it's not identical to the hood Motor City sells directly. In terms of looks, the raised portion of the Mallett hood tapers to a point as it nears the front of the hood, while the Motor City hood doesn't. I have no idea if there are other differences in terms of construction, etc.....

I assume the Motorcity hood clears a super charger. That's a asset.

So, other than a clear coat paint job and the style lines for the very cool bonus points, I am surpised that the weight saving is "only" 11 pounds. I followed a thread about removing the AIR system which also saved 10 pounds from the front end of the car.

No, it won't clear the Magnuson. I saw a post somewhere on the forum that said Motor City is working on hood that will clear it, though.

The Motor City hood lowers e.t.'s by removing turbulent air from under the car. The opening is functional and draws air from between the radiator and the front of the engine. This lowers drag, and in turn, increased mph and lowers e.t.

The current hood will not work with the Magnuson, but Motor City is working on one that will, and will have one available shortly. Just like their current hood, it will be vacum bagged carbon fiber.

Yes, my MotorCity hood from Mallett is only sold w/ Serial # cars. The standard MotorCity hood is available as well from Mallett for non serial # cars, same price as from MotorCity too. Thank Chuck for the reasons why the MotorCity hood fits better than any other aftermarket hood, he was very attentive to detail. Which is carried onto the rest of the MotorCity hoods. :thumbs:
