Tried to start car and nothing electrical works, door locks, lights, let alone any action when trying to start car.
I thought the battery was dead since I had not run the car for awhile. Tried to charge and charger indicated full charge. Disconnected battery and charger still indicated full charge and volt meter indicated no problem. Reconnected and under hood light worked but heard clicking in front section of car and in less than a minute noting was working. Sounds like a short to me; however, car has been fine up to this point.
Any suggestions other than towing to dealer?
It sure sounds to me like a dead battery to me. Had a similar situation recently and everything you describe was the same. My guess is that your charger is maybe the culprit, have you got another battery to swap in? Or can you get a jump from another car? If not I would still remove the battery from the car and let it sit on the charger over night, at this point you probably have nothing to loose, so give it a try. Good luck!
I agree, have the battery checked. If it comes back as ok, check the cables and the ground connection from the battery to the frame/ engine. If that is ok, start tracing the fuse links.

Go to Radio Shack and spend $10.00 and buy a multi tester. Put it on the battery, if you have 12 volts have some one try to crank the car, if the voltage drops way down the battery is dead. Obviously if you do not have 12 volts to begin with ... your battery is also dead.... The battery charger is not an accurate indicator of your batteries voltage

I assume the clicking you refer to is as you tried to start the car. Even though the battery charger shows full-charge, it probably can't hold the charge as soon as a load is applied to it. This is common when a cell in the battery goes bad. It likely just needs a new battery.
