Today - I wanted to make my first burnout in the C5 that I recently purchased.. However - the tires wouldn't spin - even with the traction control turned off.. It seems as if the traction control is still active after I turned it off... I'm pretty sure about that because the street was wet and there's no way that the tires wouldn't have spun without the traction control... So I wonder what could cause the traction control to be still active - even though I turned it off.. I also noticed that I couldn't check any of the computer functions like fuel economy/ tire pressure, trip odometer etc during the traction control was disabled... There's just a message that says that it was disabled... Any help is appreciated!
The only way I can get my tires to "smoke" is to power brake with traction control off. (A4) If I have my traction off and stomp on the gas I'll chirp em and they'll spin a bit but I'm off and runnin.

That seems kinda strange.. The car has around 350 HP and can't smoke the tires??? DAMN!! I need more power...
I remember when I owned my 86 (with AT) 11 years ago.. I could smoke the tires pretty good and the TPI engine only had less than 250 HP...
Well - I guess the gearing was different on the TH700R4 on the 86.. and maybe also the rear gears..
That sounds like you have 2.73 gears, not that unusual. You might want more power, but a lower gear will certainly solve any traction problem. I suggest 3.42 gear if you want to spin your tire's. A higher # like 3.73 will spin even more. Check out other posts & you will find many gear opinions.

I think that I have 3.15 gears because the RPM is around 3100 at 75 mph in 3rd gear...
I had a 55 chev with a 396 back in 74. It was a 4 speed with 3.55 posi. Lakewood traction bars. It would light the tires no problem but the 02 Vette is just as fast in the quarter, definately faster top end and it averages 18mpg :smash: :smash:
Crawl under the back of the car and look at the tag on the diff. it wil be posted there. if you have 3.15's Im me and I will let you know where to get new gears at a reasonable price. Easy and great change over. :steering: :D I had same prob and went with sy3500 and 3.73 shift kit. and wow what a wake up call.  :yesnod:

After turning off TC hit the reset button and then you can look at anything you want on the DIC. Your yellow warning will still be on, unless you are in Compition Mode, you will still be in CM but of course the warning light is not on.

I don't know if I'm going to change gears... It's actually not a bad thing that I have no tire spin for bracket racing...

I didn't read through the manual so far.. How do I switch to "Competition Mode"???

Hold the button down for 5 to 10 seconds, but this only turns of TC and leaves AH on, for draging turn them both off.
I have the 3:15 gear. I lit mine up the other day. I had the traction control off, but I left the Active Handling on. I smoked the tires until the car went sideways real hard and the active handling stop them from spinning. The only Mods I have the predator programming and the Black Wing. :iagree: :iagree: :iagree:

  Don't I turn both - traction control and active handling on and off with the same button??? How do I turn both off???
Push & release the button and both AH & TC turn off, push and hold 5-10sec & only TC is turned off (Competition Mode) Hit the reset to view your other DIC functions
