INstalled new brake pads on my z06, and parking brake doesn't hold very well in forward direction, ok in reverse, It worked better before, how can this be? Is it possible to introduce air into the system when you compress the pistons in the calipers with a c clamp? I can't imagine how.
The parking brake actually has its own star adjuster wheel like a drum brake. It adjust the same way as a drum brake and can be found on the lower part of the backing plate behind the disc. :yesnod:
ok read the tech tips, wow I can't believe that the car actually has shoes for the parking brake! I am going to try to pull up the brake in reverse a few times, I don't want to take those brackets off.
Tim, If you are going to do all that, you might as well make it easy to adjust your parking brake the next time. The mechanic where I met you a few weeks back removes the rear rotor and drills a hole in it. That way you can adjust the parking brake with the rotor still on the car. Its a 9/16 hole.

Nice idea. I wonder if this would work with a chrome 5 spoke wheel? Anyone?
I went with some semi metallic pads from autozone. I think they are similar to the stock pads. Just wanted to make sure I had enough pad this weekend at cmp. I am bringing the stock pads for spares, they had about 3/4 on the rear left, and 1/2 on the front.
It is just really strange that my parking brake got worse when I changed the pads, I don't really believe in coincidence.
The backup manuver did not help. I guess I will pull the brackets and adjust the damn things. Good tip on the hole, I will see if I want to do it when I have it apart.

You still would take the wheel/tire off to adjust the e-brake. The hole is so you don't have to take the rotor off. It also allows the parking brake to be adjusted more than you could by taking the rotor off. When you adjust the parking brake you can only go so far, if you adjust it too far you can't get the rotor back on.

I realize I would have to take the rim off to make the adjustment. I was just wondering if the 5 spoke rim itself would end up covering the spot where the hole has to be drilled. Thanks for the info. I'll check it out.
