Hi, welcome aboard. The first step is to have your dealer start the oil consumption test. GM is well aware of the problem, the most common fix is to replace the piston rings. This would be done at no cost to you !!!

Good Luck

I just started the oil consumption test. My dealer also replaced my PCV valve during the initial oil check with the new style one that GM began using during the 2001 model year. I have a very early 2001, so I had the old style. The new one will not make noise when you tap on it because it does not have an actual valve inside.

If your C5 is using more than 1 quart every 2000 miles the documented fix is to replace the rings. I have not heard anyone have problems after having the re-ring.
