Default Lil' help please

Just got the car home today. I couldnt' think of a better way to spend 7 hours. Now im a newbie to C5's so some of these questiosn might seem a little novice, but bear with me
1. Why would the A/C only blow cold on the passenger side, and not on the driver side...isnt' it the same air?
2. Are air leaks common to these cars around the door areas?
3. What's with popping out of first (6 speed) sometimes
I'm sure I'll have other questions as I drive it more :jester, but if anybdy has any input on these, that woudl be great :)

1. ??? could be in the settings
2. in my C4, yes air leaks are common
in my C5, no the windows seal very well
3. I think you have a problem there, that's not normal. Does the car have a warranty?

As far as popping out of first...actually that has happened to quite e few people on this forum. I think most of the time it can be attributed to not fully engaging first gear. I have had it happen to me twice so far. Now I make a concious effort to put it all the way in gear...In some cases the linkage may need adjustment, but most of the time I think it is pilot error.

College_guy,
Welcome to C5's.

1. Why would the A/C only blow cold on the passenger side, and not on the driver side...isnt' it the same air?
Do you have the dual climate control? If you do then the answer is yes and no. Same air but can be adjusted by both the driver and the passenger. If you don't have the dual climate control you may have a problem.

2. Are air leaks common to these cars around the door areas?
For the most part the answer is yes, with maybe the exception of the FRC. I've had both the C5 coupe and now the roadster and both are a little noisy from air leaks.

3. What's with popping out of first (6 speed) sometimes
Can't help you here, I drive a A4.

Air colder on one side is probably the dual climate control setting.

Air leaks are not real common with the C5. Make sure the top is seated properly. Also there is a metal tab on each side of the top, the window is pressed into the seal by those tabs. you could try tapping them down a little so the window seats firmly into the seals if it's not snug now. Do this by tapping a wooden block with a hammer.

How often are you popping out of first? Is it happening under full throttle? Do you have any trouble engaging any other gears, especially 2nd?

First I'd like to say thanks for everybody's input...
Secondly, I do have dual air, and yes it is set at the up and down position, so that side should not deviate from the drivers side. Secondly, it isn't popping out when im actually driving, it's always when im starting off...and it happens quite freqently....knowing me it prolly is driver error....the wind from the passenger side is pretty loud at normal highway speeds...I think it might be the weatherstripping..but i was wondering if anybody else had some input
thanks so far!

The shifter popping out ..try this...before you put it in first go to second then in first. I had the same problem when I got my car. I was told to try the 2nd to 1st and it worked . Once use to the car you can go right to first.
