Default Please Help: Electrochromic Mirror

I bought a rear view Electrochromic mirror to install on a non equipt (RPO # DDO) looked at the connections thought it was a plug and install. On the mirror I purchased the connections are different 8 prong vs 4. Will I have to buy a the harness and where does the extra wires go. Has anyone done this mod or do I have a small boat anchor? Thanks

Not plug-n-play, but not too difficult. Yes you will need the new connector. I believe Fichtner Chevy has this part available for under $50.

I have one of those mirrors. I bought mine from Donnelly a while back. On my install I needed to add a relay in the footwell (Aux power supply) in order to get the compass and EC part of the mirror to work when the ignition is on.

Did you buy your mirror from Chevy/GM? Did it happen to come with a wiring diagram? If it did, can you scan in a copy of the wiring diagram and email it to me?

Thanks.

Powerdoc,
TexasRed hooked me up, ckick on the above link and it shows were the 4 wires are to be hooked up. However if this is not what you need I will be going to Chevy dealer to get the connection and see if I can get you a wiring diagram. Sounds like all you need is a hotwire/ground for the compas

i put a dimming/ compass mirror in my tahoe.....ground and power are all that is needed to make work ....there is also a 3rd wire that goes to the reverse back up lite switch so the dimming stops when you back up......i have some extra plugs(i work in a wrecking yard) if you need them... just email me with the amount of pins you need........ps it is also easy to wire in a mirror with the outside temp...there is a sensor behind the grill and all you have to add is the two extra wires for the sensor.....anyone need any help wiring let me know as it is very very easy and the added convienence is super cool
