The Z06 intake manifold just arrived for my '99 Corvette coupe. I intend to put it on within the week. where can I get replacement intake manifold gaskets for this project? Any other gotchas or oh-by-the-ways I need to know about before tackling this install? Thanks.
12533587 is the intake manifold gasket set, a dealer item.
Since the LS6 intake has a flat bottom there is a clearance issue with the coolant vent pipe that run underneath as well as the clips for the knock sensor wires.
Removing the clips that hold the wires to the coolant vent pipe will solve that problem. As for the coolant vent pipe you can cut away some of the webbing on the bottom of the LS6 intake in a way that will provide the necessary clearance or you can get 2 (12563325) plugs for the rear where the original coolant pipe attached to the heads and a new replacement (12568478) coolant pipe for the front. If you don’t like the idea of using the plugs then you can get 2 of the 12568478 pipes and adapt them by using a rubber hose from the rear pipe, running it over the top of the intake and teeing it into the front 12568478 pipe. Here’s a how-to with some pictures: http://tradezone.com/vette/2001man.html
In my own case I used the 2 plugs and the pipe but if I had to do it again, I would just clearance the bottom of the intake.
Some people are also installing the LS6 valley cover that has an oil separator for better oil control. It is easy to do since you have the intake manifold off. You will have to a little grinding to make room for the oil separator. Here’s a thread with some pictures, etc: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zero...648619#5648619

Your intake manifold should have come with all 8 gaskets already installed. Flip it over and look, should be 8 rectangular rubber gaskets pressed in, and then a gasket at the opening where the throttle body meets. All are rubber and nearly infinitely reusable.
Check out my site if you want instructions on install. 2-3 thousand people have read mine and I'd think at least 1000 have used them with no issues yet (as long as you torque using INCH pounds, not FOOT lbs!)
I am one of those 2 - 3K ! Installing tomorrow.. thanks for clearing up that gasket issue. Is there a problem with using the plugs on a 98 (I just installed them today)?
Strange question again...LOL, I am getting an LS6-IM on my car this week. How can you tell the difference bettween an LS1-IM an LS6-IM just by looking at it when it is already installed on your car.

I purchased the replacement coolant pipes for the Z06 intake manifold when the manifold was ordered, so I already have those items. I'll look at the bottom of the intake and see if the little gaskets are already there. I'm sure they are since it was a new item. If they're there, then I'm ready to go :)
