I was reading this other post, and it answered a few questions, but brought up a couple:
I thought the marbles in the belly was actually a problem. Whew! Does it just like you say, during first gear low rpm starts, and when shutting down in neutral. I also get a rythmic tap-tap-tap occasionally while idling in neutral.
Am I still ok? Is there a fix I could get under warranty or after market?
I did not know the stock battery was prone to leakage, I will check tomorrow.
Any preferances on a new battery?
Speaking of power, is the stock alternator something that people like to replace? It seems at times that it barely puts out enough amperage to do more than one thing at once. Example, lights all dim at night when I put the windows down.
Is there anything else I might be missing that could/should be done? I am the second owner, btw. 13,500mi on her now. I am wondering about things like fluids, hoses/lines, preventative maintinence and the sort. I will be getting a alignment next as I did the basic lowering last night. I am willing to spend the money and/or time do do things that are a good idea, like the battery if ya'll with the experience could let me know.
Thanks guys!
p.s. Dual tip Stingers arrive tomorrow! A friend and a six pack coming over tomorrow evening to partake in the mod fever. Somebody stop me!! Its not out of control yet, but I am afraid to open my wallet lest my credit card start speaking to me in a voice that only me and my Corvette can hear.
Battery: At some point GM used a different battery... I forget if it's 01 or 02.
Alternator: Over in the Audio section their was a detailed thread on the subject. When it comes down to it not really worth it and some folks with large stereo systems like to change out the "big" three cables. You may want to post there.
For the battery, GM makes a new type that comes in new Vettes, it is called AGM (absorbent glass matt), that's what I replaced my stocker with, many on here like the Optima, it's a matter of choice. For the altenator, I've noticed on many cars that the lights dim when windows go down, not positive why though. If you are not sure of the output, you might try keeping an eye on the DIC of the voltage as you are driving.
Fluid changes are like going to church, it may not help, but it can't hurt! Although your mileage is still pretty low, depends on how much PM you want to do. Mine is 4 years old and has just under 20,000 miles, I plan to change brake fluid, flush radiator, and change fluid and filter in the tranny (auto) withinn the next couple of weeks.

Am I still ok?...
You might be hearing a light amount of piston slap, which the LS-1s are known for. Should be worse cold than warm. And, if the only time you're hearing it is at idle, then I think you're fine.
Congrats on the car, and if your looking to replace the battery, you cant go wrong with an Optima. I upgraded mine due to my stereo system, and chose the red top for the looks since I have a red car. Either the Optima Red Top or Yellow Top are both great choices, you cant go wrong with either
Make sure you can get the rear of the car high in the air to remove the factory exhaust. If you need help it maybe time for another ATL mod party  I just added GHLs to my car. Saw you are in Buford we are having a dyno day at ACD Saturday if you aren't already in.
