I got a buddy with a 1999 C5 and had the battery replaced prior to leaking...his FOBs need to be reprogrammed but they are different than my 2001...can anyone help me help him with the re-program procedure???
Does he have to go back to a dealer??? I checked the archives and recent posts as well as tech tips but did not find this...
Thanks!   :seeya
Since no one has posted here yet, I'll try to help you out. I am going by memory (no pun intended) here, as my car and all my manuals are at home and I'm at work now. I believe that you go near the car and hold down both the lock & unlock buttons (about 10 - 15 seconds) until the horn beeps. Then it's done. I hope that's right!

If holding down the lock and unlock buttons for a few seconds near the car doesn't get it, turn the switch on, clear any messages from the DIC, press the options button until the DIC is blank and hold down the reset button for three seconds... When FOB training appears, press reset again... DIC will tell you to hold down the lock/unlock buttons on the first remote, then the second FOB and so on... You can program a max of three to a car, but you have to program them all at once...
if standing by the car and pressing two buttons is all you have to do, then I think I better buy a lock for my car as anyone in the world can get a key fob and be in my car in 7 seconds.

I was going to say the same thing, there's got to be more to this or people would not buy vette's when all they needed was to buy a fob and steal one? :skep: :skep: :skep: :skep:
Sent e-mail with complete relearn procedure that was faxed to me from GM. It is in a scanned format, so if your yahoo email account won't allow the images. Send me an alternate e-mail address.
1) turn the ignition to on.
2) with the door close, press Options on DIC until a blank display is show (after the language selection).
3) press and hold Reset to get Fob Training to appear (took about three seconds)
4) press Options to get the 1st fob programming instruction.
5) hold down both the Lock and Unlock at the same time on the fob being programmed for about 15 seconds. When programming is complete the DIC will advise you to program the second fob and so on.
6) When you are finished with the programming simply hit Reset.
