Default Code C1281 , please help.

I have a C1281H code on my 98. I have had the code since I bought the car in Dec. I have deleted it now twice and it comes back so I know its somewhat of a current problem even thought it always shows as a "H" code. Ok, here is my problem. I bought this car used from a Toyota dealer (wife thought I was going to buy an SUV :lolg: ) and I got a extended warrenty for 3 years. This dealership does not know corvettes too well and to my dismay, neither does the local Chevy dealer. The Chevy dealer said they have never heard of a C1281 code, infact they know of no codes that start with a "C"
I dont really want the Toyota dealer messing around with my car if they have no idea what they are doing. I figured a problem like this would be sent to the local Chevy dealer, but they dont even know whats going on.
Does anyone have any advice on what I can do to get my car fixed? Sorry for the long post, I just do not know how to go about this problem.

Thanks in Advance,
Eric

C1281 Steering Sensor Uncorrelated Malfunction
Thanks for the info, but I have got the standard info on the code. I just do not know what a "steering Sensor Uncorrelated Malfunction" means :p:

My main question is how I should go about fixing this problem. Can I go to any dealership to have the Warrenty work done, or am I stuck with the company I got the warrenty from? If anyone has gone through an issue like this what did you do and what did it take?

Thanks again

Actually, it is a bit misleading, C1281, affects your active handling. When troubleshooting this code, you are referred to the antilock brake system diagnostics.

The Active Handling system uses three sensors: Steering Wheel Position Sensor, Yaw Rate Sensor and Lateral Accelerometer Sensor. If these sensors do not agree for a specified time, a code is set. The only way be set without any other Active Handling codes is if the Active Handling event occurs for 10 seconds without a sign of the yaw rate error ever changing this code will be set.

As for the warranty, what agreement do you have with the warranty company. Many extended warranty companies allow you to take the vehicle to anyone who is a licensed repair facility. Best advice is to read the warranty papers you were given when you purchased the car, or call the warranty company.
I agree, it is scary thinking a Toyota dealer may have to work on the car, but almost all large dealers have electronic access to service manuals from other companies.

Can't imagine they would be any worse than most Chevy dealers. rofl: Just make sure they don't install a large coffee can for a muffler and rice the vehicle :lolg: :

Great Info.
I have had a "jerky" feeling while stopping from about 15mph until complete stop. The dealer said it was normal, I thought it was the rotors, but maybe its a small problem with the ABS? I will see if I can get Daugherty Chevy in Sac to check it out under warrenty.

Thanks again.
