I clamped them on front to back as a I couldn't get a decent purchase on the demon key otherwise. I remember a lot of tugging, levering and swearing before it came free. Good luck !

Same here, front to back. Gotta pull straight up. If you can get something into your vise grips crossways (screwdriver, small wrench?), it may give you something to hammer upwards on. Kind of a slide hammer impact effect. You can do a search and see a lot of very creative approachs to this. If you have a helper they can swear along with you. :D

Be sure to keep your face away from the grips. When that thing lets loose, you could lose some teeth or an eye.

After you tried the vice grips/hammer method, even the screwdriver method, and the T (also called Demon Key) is still in, drop me an IM and I will send you the correct tools!

Whatever you do, be sure not to destroy the sides of the key, otherwise you will have nothing to grip on!

Clamp those vice grips on the Demon Key front to back, then tap on the vice grips with a hammer while pulling up.
