There wasn't any difference in power or toque up to about 4700 RPM's, then after that some improvement was noticed. I got as much as 20 RWHP at 5700 RPM's. My friend had asked me if I could tell a difference and I told him not really, and I see why now. After tuning though, and incredible difference was noticed....she pulls much harder now :D Dyno results below, tuning courtesy of Jayson at MTI. I posted my results in the Z06 forum, but thought others who don't go there might find it intersting how in my case there wasn't anything down low...
Dyno 001 = Blackwing, X-Pipe, and PRT's :)
Dyno 002 = Vortex Rammer, FLP's, and PRT's :D
Dyno 003 = Vortex Rammer, FLP's, PRT's, and MTI Tuning. :D:D:D:thumbs:
looks like the tuning did the trick and nice gains across the board :)
In a few weeks, my LGM set will be done and although I have rock solid dyno pulls for comparison, I'll be doing pulls that morning, getting the headers installed, doing more pulls, tune, then pull again :D
Re: FLP's installed....Interesting Results...... (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
What parameters of the pcm do they tune when you add headers??? :D
Bandit........................
The Z06 Timing is pretty conservative from the factory. The max advance for the LS6 is around 23 degrees vs 28 for the LS1. Advancing the timing is what did the trick. My A/F ratio's were pretty good according to the tech II. The tuning was not done with a sniffer on the pipe, but rather using the O2 sensors. Jayson did lean it a little bit, but it didn't really make any difference in power. The tuning did give me an additional 25 lb/ft of torque peak (as you can see), and 14 HP but the real difference is down low were you feel it!
They also match your bad gas table to the good gas table, set the first fan to come on at 180*, second at 190*. Set's the CAGS turn on point to 250* (I didn't know it worked off of temp, but notice how when your car is cold the skip-shift light doesn't come on).
I wanted to tune pre-headers just to see, but I didn't think it would be fair to ask him to tune it before headers, then afterwards for the one fee, since that would be double work for him.
