I have not had the vette in yet, but I recently took the wife's 2000 Honda and all they do on the newer cars is plug a cable in to your diagnostic port and you are out of there in a few minutes. There is no tradmill test or exhaust sniffing.

I live out here in Carrol County and I had to take my 98 Tahoe (before I bought the 01) to the near by station(Westminster) and I drove into this bay and they hooked up this thing to my exhaust and told me to hold the throttle at 2000 rpm's for 15 seconds or so..........after that they gave me some paperwork and I drove out. I guess I passed cause they didn't say anything otherwise.
I took my 97 in in 2000 and it passed with flying colors. They wouldn't put it on the rollers (Owings Mills) because it was too low - I think the retaining rollers would have hit the car. They just put a sniffer on it and had me keep it revved to 2000RPM for about 90 seconds.
I went back in 2002 and they told me the car was too low to the ground and gave me an exemption for 2 years. I think there was a dip in the pavement that I let my front tires sit in and the front air dam was very close to the ground.
I took my 98 in late last year & they wouldn't put it on the rollers (Beltsville) because it was too low. They gave me an exemption for 2 years. I did not even get a tailpipe sniffer test.
