Default Yank 3200?

Anyone tried the Super Street Yank 3200 with a STR of 2.1?

It is recommended for the 3:15 stock gear. I was wondering how much difference between it and the Super Yank 3500 with a STR of 1.65.

I guess I'll answer myself. After doing a search on the forum, I've decided to go with the SS3200 and keep my 3:15 gear for now. If in the future, it's not enough, I can change it, but I will mostly be driving my car on the street. I read that the sy3500 is too much for street tires. Since I can already smoke my tires at will, I don't think It would be a good idea to increase the torque factor too much. Plus, it sounds like the looseness won't be much of a problem with a STR of 2.1 instead of 1.65. :banghead: :conehead

I ahd a Yank 3000 and a Yank 3200 with 315s...no real difference. My times and mph were about the same with either. 3200 actually stalled about 2900 rpms while 3000 stalled about 2700 rpms. 3200 was just a little looser.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something
Hope these modaholics will chime in :lurk:

Isn't the higher STR harder on tires, that gets you the jump off the line? :steering:

:iagree: Higher str 2.2 = harder launch, lower str 1.61 = softer launch, stronger mid range. Called Mike at Yank & he said for street tires the SY3500 with a str of 1.61 would be best. Check his webb site at ( converter.cc )

Maybe I should just get the SY3500. I understand about the increase torque from the go, but I'm also concerned with the driveablity during normal driving.

I guess I'm getting confused myself. Maybe, I need both a lower stall and a lower STR.

I thought it made sense to go with the 3200 stall with the greater STR to make up for the fact that I would be keeping the 3:15 gear.

I guess I didn't make myself very clear on the subject. In fact, I'm confusing myself

I went back to Yank's site and reread all the information. You guys were right.

SY3500

Only thing I saw which was slightly different was that they list a C5
SY3500 with a STR 1.65 and another SY3500 with a STR of 1.61

They were both the same price though. Anyone know of a better price than Yank's $895 ? :iagree: :seeya
