I'm thinking of letting my son get a used C-5 but want to de-tune it to limit the rev's to 4500 and the top end to 90 MPH. Can this be done with the current chip reprogramers, i.e. Predator???
Don't buy your son a C5, if you don't trust him to drive it safely. Yes I'm sure those things can be done, but I'm just as sure that he will figure a way around them.

Since nobody is willing to answer your actual question...
Yes, you can do these things. You can also limit torque, though I am not sure by how much. A laptop and the proper software and a cable is all you need.
Additionally, the Window Commander by Top Down Technologies will record highest speed reached. Don't let him know that you have it installed and he'll probably never figure out how to defeat it.
That way, ask him if he obeyed the speed limits when out, then go check the commander to see if he's lying.
I believe you can do this with LS1edit.
There is another data loging device you can install.
It plugs to the ODB2 port and monitors the car. http://www.davisnet.com/drive/produc...p_Help_You.pdf
You can see when it was driven and how hard.
How may hard accels and decels.
Max speeds. All kinds of stuff.
Will even tell u if it was disconnected and when incase he is wise to your attempts to see how the car is driven. You could trust him and then use this to verify your trust.
I can't imagine how embarassing it would be to your son to be cruising around in a detuned Corvette that would have its doors blown off by just about any thing it ran into. If my father had known all the crap I did as a teenager he would have had a heart attack. Boys will be boys!!

Yes but they don't need to do it in a high performance $50k car. I agree, an Accord will be just right. You can help him hop it up / rice it out, some of them are pretty cool, just not my style.
If my parents knew what I did in a 59 chevy, 3spd column shift and, blue flame 6 cyl they'd have killed me! Yes the back end would start trying to lift at 90mph. :D

You can do it with LS1 edit. It has provisions for speed limiter and rpm limiter. The program cost's about $550.00 or you can take it to a shop and have it done usally around $400.00

:withstupid: Please excuse my trolling :troll BUT
while you're at it, throw him a box of condoms, a dime bag and bottle of JD. Then tell him to save sex for marriage, don't smoke dope, and don't drink. For sure, if you're here, your kid's going to be here. He just has to ask how to reboot the car back to it's factory settings. IMHO a detuned C5 is a really, really expensive piece of rice...looks the part, but can't act.
I guess you should get him the automatic with the 2.73 gears. Those are the slowest of the bunch. I guess you could also speed limit the thing to 70 mph. Maybe it would be good to send him to a High Performance Driving School to learn how to drive the car better?
