Doing this install this morning and have before starting just swapped the shifter to the lighter outer springs and left in the lighter inner springs which were in there already.
My materials package came with two identical new gaskets. I am assuming that this was just an oversight by the person packing the contents. Please let me know if I am not on track here. Thanks.
:iagree: Yep. Just one gasket. You will want to invert the stock rubber boot as that will help with sound reduction. You're really going to love the Hurst shifter. Try shifting BEFORE you reinstall everything to make sure you have the right springs. I only went with the lightest spring set.
Just one gasket is right. I went with the stock springs. The shifter rattles. I have read, but can't confirm, that the lighter the springs the greater the rattle. Any truth to this?

I have finished the install and tested things out and no rattles here. I took the stops completely out and went with the heavy aftermarket MGW shifter and lots of insulation. i.e. reused the orginal tunnel cover with the center reversed, a toilet trapper with pipe wrap & a wool wash mit on top of this before the boot.
