Just completed my first ride after installing all my new parts along with the H&C swap. I feel lucky to have made it back into my garage. The front pulley has separated from the core. It has been basicly reduced to shavings where it joins the core . I noticed a slight wobble of the pulley right from the beginning startup. I even made a post here stating this fact.
Didn't I see a post from someone else who had this exact problem? Worst part about it is the labor to get in there and replace it (DIY project)...ugh!
Could I have done something wrong? The car felt very strong but then at idle things got bad...scurried home did the inspection and there it was ...like rubber shavings where it joins the aluminum!
NO! Square on the crank?! Let me tell ya that puppy was square on the crank! I stood in the engine bay and torqued and stretched that crank bolt to the full requirement! Lets ask neverenugh if his was "square on the crank" !
:mad Did you do your own install? (just curious)
Re: ASP Pulley Seperates From Core!!! (CapeCodCoupe)
CapeCod, first sorry to hear of this rotten developement. I think when people say "square on the crank" they mean the pulley was manufactured wrong and wobbled. Not that it was installed crooked! Which as you know is pretty much impossible anyway.
I know it won't help with the labor, but I am sure that ASP will give you a new pulley pronto.
Re: ASP Pulley Separates From Core!!! (CapeCodCoupe)
Wow capecodcoupe, that sucks. Sounds like you simply got a bad pulley. I've installed quite a few of those and none have ever done that. There's nothing really wrong you can do in the install so either your motor is really out of balance or the pulley was (or it was just faulty).
That sucks. BTW, I promise, its a lot easier to take the rack out the 2nd time around. I had mine out in half an hour after I had to go back in after I fired my car up the first time. I had a torn oil pump o-ring.
