Default gas gauge problems

The last 3 times i filled the car up the the fuel gauge worked fine, and then a few hrs later it reads empty and the check gauges lights come on. I turn the car off and reset it ,then its ok till next fillup. The 10 pcm dic code has been displayed twice,is this related? Its going in the shop soon to have power window motor replaced for the 2nd time!

Could be related to a grounding problem. Corvettes are bad about that. I had a similar problem that drove the dealer nuts until they reseated the common grond wires. GOOD LUCK

Mine did the samething..it's the fuel sending units (2 of them) in the gas tank. Had mine fix, so far so good but it will happen again. GM replaces the sending units with the same ones so it's just a matter of time before it happens again. There is no real fix for this problem just a temporary band-aide. It's the surfur in fuel is what causes the units to go bad. Many have said to use a low surfur based fuel (Mobil or Sunoco). There is a gas additives that someone had mentioned that helps keep the units clean but of course I can't remember the product but I do remember he said he gets it at Pep Boys. Botton line is to never trust the gas gauage of any Vette before 03. Good luck

I'm having the same problem with my 2001 coupe.
I reviewed the DIC codes and here's what I got:

10-PCM
P1431 H C Fuel Level Sensor 2 Circuit Performance
BO-RFA
U1000 H Loss of cummunications undetermined
U1064 H Loss of Communications BCM ( Body Control Module )

Someone else posted a reply which said it was due to a loose common ground. Anyone know where the most likely ground would be?

You can ad 03's to that list. I posted about this a week or so ago where my 03 C5 with less than 3000 miles went to empty with a full tank and had the check gauges display come on. Stayed ther till I put about 5 gallons in the tank. The dealer said this should not happen to the 03's. I'll keep an eye on it... :bs

FWIW early 03 vettes have the same fuel gage system as 97-02
Fuel gage system was revised in nov. 02 so if you have an early 03 you
may have same problem.

I just had the same problem and same codes on my '02 with 17000. The guage came back after resetting the codes. If there is a ground that I could check, I'll try that first. I really do not want to take the car to the dealer...

In the latest issue of Corvette Quarterly in the FAQ section there is information which may be helpful regarding fuel gauges reading "E" or "Low Fuel." The problem may be caused by the system which transfers fuel between the right and left tanks of the car, causing unexpected signals to be received by the computer. When this occurs, the computer recognizes that there is a problem, sending a signal to the instrument cluster to move the fuel gauge to empty. If you contact General Motors Technical Assistance Center they may be able to help. Good Luck...
