Default INTAKE BLUES

Well yesterday I got my manuals from Levi here on corvetteforum and as I was reading them I noticed that they inform you to change the intake manifold gaskets in big bold letters. I bought a Weiand polish intake and installed it and found out that this was a wrong move so I put my stock intake back on with the same gaskets. The Oring gaskets looked good but should I take it all apart and change them anyway? :banghead:

sorry to hear about the extra work :(....as an old mechanic from the Navy, once a gasket or o-ring is crushed, then it's toast...always replace 'em

What was the problem with the Weiand manifold? Poor performance? Fittment issues? sj

I am told by several tuners (on this forum) and 2 heads guys that they are crap, to start with the zo6 intakes are plastic for a reason and that is they do not hold heat and warm the air that enters the heads, I was told that after they first came out a lot of the tuners tried them and all lost power and I understand in some cases fitment is a problem with leaks.

The reasons why I went back to the stock manifold is because it didn't fit very well. It would hit the valley cover bolts and crush the wiring. It leaked on the bottom half of the ports and I had to make a cover for the top of the intake. It looked good but it got very hot after running it. I sent it back. They said it was for a F body. Oh well. :smash:
