After replacing the "brains" of the abs and 1 harness 6 months ago. I'm now having the light come on again and the dealer can't figure it out. the scanner was reading trouble from the left wheel. I get the light after 5-10 min of driving and it first came on again after having my calipers removed (to be painted), and Russell stainless brake lines put in. I went back to So Fl performance (Put the stainless lines in and caliper paint) and asked them and they showed me what they did under the car and they said that the dealer did a shotty job the first time on the abs. This same shop put a line loc in for me in January and there was no problem with ABS after that.
I'd like to know if anyone has has any input. It's extremely difficult for me to get to the dealer shop due to impossible and unpredictable hours at work. I'm sure what I should be suggesting. If you check out my sig, you'll see all the mods and the dealer is being pretty cool about it since I'm on the GM extd warranty. They had my car 5 days last week and were on the tech line most of the time? Other mechanics say that it is not likely to be the stainless brake lines or DOT 4 fluid. HELP :banghead: :mad
I had the same problem on my car after installing Goodridge stainless steel brake lines. We put the stock brake line back on and I haven't had a problem since. Good luck.
When you reset the code does it come on right away? or does it come on when you start rolling? or does it come back on when you hit a small bump in the road? Or does it not come on for a while and then all of a sudden come on?? IF so, you could have a bad set of the Goodridge lines... Getting another set (if they are bad) will fix your problem.
the code does not come back on right away. after shutting off the car I can drive awhile 5-10 min and sometimes a bump sets it off and sometimes it just goes off. the perf shop swears that the lines have nothing to do with it? Shouldn't the dealer know about this?
Its the lines, replace them with new Goodridge lines and you will be set to go... The same thing happened to me with my car and the dealership went NUTS! replacing stuff (for free) to fix the problem. In the end it was the Russell SS lines that I had on the car that had a ground problem. Same symptoms too... :yesnod:
actually the lines were Russell, the clerk mistakenly told me that I had Goodridge. How do I know if it was just a bad set of lines vs. just the lines themselves?
Check to see if the lines are grounded properly from one end to the other with an OHM meter. If no ground, then the line is bad. grounding straps dont work in this case either.... :(
