I went to Pep Boys to pick up an oil filter for my next oil change and did not see any UPF44's. I did buy the ACDelco PF44 oil filter. Are these two the same thing or do I specifically need a UPF. Also, how many quarts do I need. 6 or 7? How many miles do you guys go between oil changes? 3000 miles seems to be the norm, but then again this is super synthetic oil.
Re: oil filter: UPF44 and PF44 the same? (wireless)
The standard factory filter is the PF44. The UPF44 is a premium (better filtration ability) version. 3000 miles is fine, same as when I do it. Although a bit of overkill with synthetic oil, it wont hurt anything except your wallet (and the environment) to do it this often.

I use UPF44 but PF44 are a good filter.
I go by my DIC to change oil, and I wait until it is low (under 5% oil life remaining), usually about 6,700 miles for me. Mine is a 1998, Chevy says to change at 10,000 miles or DIC.
Later years went to 15,000 miles. Some people with early years reset the DIC oil life at 50% oil life remaining. I don't since I have an extended warrenty.
Mobil 1 will support these extended oil intervals, get an oil analysis if you want to prove it to yourself. I know changing oil is an emotional issue but it doesn't have to be, there is science.
Oh, you will need 6.5 or 7 quarts. Some later years had wrong dip stick and full is halfway, so if you go to top of line it will use 7 quarts.
