Re: Dyno #'s/Feedback for SLP Headers? (msuc5vette)
Well, you asked for it.
After installing my headers (by me) I can definitely say these are a royal PITA big time!!! Drivers side is pretty straight forward but the passenger side will take you several days. You have to split your primary wiring harness apart and separate out main power, ground and starter control wires, retape and seal the harness, reloom the harness, loom the separate wires, reroute them in a most difficult manner known to man to get them out of the way of the header, ....... I could go on.
This is my 3rd Corvette and I have installed several sets of headers, full restoration on cars, tear downs, etc - ie, I am very mechanically inclined.
I purchased my SLP's in a November GP from T Byrne. Never again! If I had been informed (neither T Byrne nor SLP will fess up) about the rerouting work and other little tidbits necessary to make these headers fit, I would have spent the extra money and gone with the LGM headers.
Your choice. Never again for me. For what its worth, the headers fit great, look great and sound great. I have not dyno'd yet but have definitely added some torque and RWHP to the car. She accelerates smoother and ramps up very fast now.

What sort of reworking did you have to perform to make the headers fit? They look really nice and I am considering the Head/Cam package from them also (the new one). Are you having anymore trouble?

The headers are a tight fit, but nothing special. I have everything from the headers to the exhaust, so everything was bolt on, no cutting or welding.
I have had them now for about 2000 miles/6 months and NO problems. I just had it in the shop and everything but the headers came off to put in my PT2800. Everything bolted RIGHT back on when done. :D
I am very curious about SLP's new head/cam setup. In fact, I think I'll call em now!
Check out the Stainless Works headers. The install on them is not that bad, and they are 304 stainless steel with a lifetime warranty. They have 1 3/4" primaries and 3" collectors. They are also very well priced, especially for 304 stainless.
Email me if you want any more info or pricing on them.
