Anyone know where I can get new rails for a decent price or if there is a fix out yet?

 

anyone? The 2x4 fit is messing up the back of my seat and the carpet.

 

I put my 4x4 in a towel.

 

I want to get rid of the 2x4 wood fix all together :D Kinda of stupid for a car at this price, but hey, it did work for a while. Anything cheaper then the dealer?

 

I'm willing to be with all the genious minds in here someone knows or knows someone that has the ability to do it. They probably just didn't want to wast their time on the seats and spend it on the motor. But let me know if you find out something. They could definitely make some $$$$

 

Hi Again. I called the dealer and they said $762!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fir a Seat adjuster, part # 88953529 I knew it was expensive, maybe around $400, but this is crazy for a part that can do it again in 15k miles. Is this the right part?

 

That sounds about right. I had mine repaired 2 months ago -- covered under GMPP extended warranty.

FYI: The new tracks are sturdier, so they should last longer. It's still rediculous, though!

 

From reading the replies, it sounds like you are not under warranty. This is a known issue and warranty will replace it.

 

I remember reading a while back someone makes aluminum replacements for the plastic parts that wear out but I don't know where. I think you still had to send him the seats as the parts were a pain to get to.

I too have the rocking chair option but don't plan on spending that amount of cash to resolve it.

yea, the price to fix this is stupid, if I was still under warrenty, I wouldn't be complaining about it. Too bad no one makes new adjustable custom seats all together. For all the cars that do, you think there would be options for custom seats that fit and recline.

Correction
A new seat adjuster assembly has been released to correct this condition. Replace the adjuster assembly. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Replacement (SI Document ID# 656483) in the Seats sub-section of the Service Manual.

well, I don't have memory, so thats $543.79, plus I know a parts guy that can give me a 15% discount on that price, so thats a little better, but still costly. The part number has changes so this is supposed to be an improved peice. I'm going to get one for the driver, and two seat covers to bring the seats back to the condition they should be in my car.

No problem!! I do a ton of these for the Used Car department when they go to the auction. They are tricky to do but patience pervails. If you getting new covers this may also interest you...

Some customers may comment that there appears to be premature wear of the leather material on the driver's or passenger bucket seatback in the bolster area.

Correction
Replace the seatback leather cover with a new cover that has additional felt added to the backside of the leather to increase durability. Also, the leather material in the bolster area has been changed to a more durable vinyl material. For information on replacing the seatback cover, see Service Manual Update Bulletin #99-08-50-002.
