Default Just sent PCM to Ed Wright...

Any ideas as to how my car will feel once I get it back?

CURRENTLY, my car has the Powerloader, but only programmed in for TPIS Long Tube Headers...

Since 2 yrs ago, I now have a Yank 3000, Random High Flow Cats, & GHL Exhaust, LS6 intake manifold...same 3:15 gears....

I asked for a WOT shift at 6000 rpms & rev limiter @6800 rpms.

Alsochecked FIRM shifts & lower fan temps.

What can I expect from his tuning as far as performance, shifting, timing, air/fuel etc?

I know these are pretty basic bolt on mods, so someone out there should have a good idea if he did yours.

Thanks

Thanks,
Ellis

I could be wrong but don't you already have 6000 rpm shifts and cooler fan temp with the powerloader?

If I were you, I'd hold off reprograming until you get something more drastic - Heads/cam, supercharger, or gear change...

The only change you may notice is a bit of the transmission management because of the torque converter.. I personally would have held off until you had more mods as well since I am sure the tuning is costing you around $500.. And remember, no one will be able to touch your PCM ever again after Ed Wright does, unless you flash it back to stock. I am sure Buckmaster can fill you in on some of the fun involved with that!

Guys...

Just so you'll know... My car is shifting about 300 rpms early, partial & WOT, and some other minor that I hope to get cleaned up..

The addition of the Yank, will change the shifting I believe, and the Random cats, & Ls6 intake will probably make him lean it out.

Thats is my thinking, but as it is, and I've had it this way since last July, and my car needs to be brought to the level it should be at, at least on a drivibility standpoint.

The PL was OK before the Yank, but I need to clean up the shift points, add firmness, and get it leaned out for sure....

To maximize the advatage of tuning I would actually take the car somewhere where they can use a dyno, widebands o2's, and a tech 2 to properly tune the car. But that's just me. :yesnod:

Ellis, my Vette has basically the same mods as yours. I have had a powerloader for about eighteen months and love it. When I had the FLP Long Tube Headers installed, I checked with Steve Cole, he stated no additional programing was necessary. I later had the Yank 3000 Torque Converter installed. Again he talked with me on the phone and followed up with an email stating that no change was necessary. The main thing he stressed was to ensure the transmission was properly filled or it would effect shifting. He was correct. Mine was not completely topped off and the shifting was off. I had transmission rechecked, refilled. It now shifts at 6000 RPM and the shifts are nice and crisp. One question, why would you want your rev limiter set at 6800 RPM... One last thing, Steve Cole has returned my email promptly, talked to me on the phone and really sounded squared away....some of the other guys on the forum have also had good service from him lately.

Ellis, you should've took it to Chris. I don't think you'll be happy with your results. You can't program a car through the mail.

this is to everyone out there who is reading this thread. Do not ever use ed wright!!! he locks your PCM out so you can or the dealer can never re-flash it again.

If anybody wants the email address of the best LS1 edit tuner, based in CA. 'pm' me. charges very fair prices for tuning.

He uses EASE and LS1 edit to make a custom tune for you car, using the Ease recording software reading exact values your PCM is putting out. You email him your EASE recording, he looks at the data, tunes it up, and emails you back with a new PCM flash. You use LS1 edit to download that flash to your car and your done! Its awsome, and any mods in the future he's glad to re-tune for almost nothing. You can also mail your PCM to him, but that's not as efficient as the EASE scan/LS1 edit method.

For more details, please 'pm' me or email me.

Jeremy is right, as usual.:)

Have the car 'checked' to see where it runs and what is needed. Then you will know everything has been maximized.

Guys.... guys.... guys...

Such caring for lil ol Ellis...! Whats Donna gonna think?

Look, I'm not worried about flashing it back to stock or re-loading the PL if I have to... My buddy is the GM vett tech at Bryner, and does the Tech 2 thing all the time.

Also, I am not sending it in as an individual. It is getting sent by a shop that deals with Ed Wright on a consistent basis, so the charge you see on their site is NOT what I am paying...

I am not adverse to LS-1 Edit. Once I get some more mods done, I will take my car to CARTEK where I have a gift certificate from winning a Corvette Challenge event that is good until October, for LS-1 Edit dyno tuning.

I just want my car to drive better since I don't think its been where it needs to be the last 2 yrs or so..

Based on what you're all saying, that is why I'd rather have this done now, and do the LS-1 Edit later....

Finally, gee, I thought all you guys liked Ed Wright!
I did email Steve Cole, about a re-program, still no reply...

just an FYI - when I had my PCM issue I sent an email to Steve Cole late Sat nite and I got a reply by Sun morning. May be I just got lucky... Try using a really clever header - "hot chics for free", "ed wright goes bankrupt" etc

Whats the difference if he reads your email, but doesn't reply, or if you send it in, and it sits on the shelf for 10 months?

I have emailed him 3 times in the last year & left phone messages with his secretary. No reply.

My car may not require extreme tuning, but it does require some adjustments, thats why I'm going the Ed Wright route! :yesnod:
