I posted earlier requesting help with light near Passenger footwell thinking that was the only problem. Under further investigation I noticed that it is a problem affecting all of my courtesy lights. Is there a a specific fuse or sensor that I might have blown? Looking through the owners manual I notice Micro Relay for the Courtesy Lamps? Is it possible that it is damaged? If so how do I replace it and how much does one cost? I have never replaced on and would like to know.
You blew one of the red 10 amp fuses in the passenger foot well.
One is on the left-hand side as look at it toward the top. I believe this one is labeled as overload (inadvertant). the other one is towards the middle. I believe it is labeled Accessories. I wish they were labeled better myself. Good luck. You'll find it. Just remember it's a red fuse.
The don't work when I hit the dimmer **** or when either of the doors are opened. When I say courtesy lights I am referring to the the light in the passenger footwell and the two lights in the rear hatch area. The lights in the door do work however. The whole problem occured when I snipped the positive and negative lines to the light in the passenger footwell. I saw a small spark and after that I got no more courtesy light.
You blew the fuse, the relay should be fine.
Remove the floor cover on the right side and the cover for the fuse block.
I am not sure what year your car is but for a 99 and 01 the fuse for this circuit is labeled C/LALDL fuse 29
Look on the sticker inside the fuse panel cover and find the fuse that is identified that way.
I find the easiest way to find a blown fuse is to start the vehicle, use a 12V test lamp and just check them all, sometimes it's easier than trying to find the one fuse you are looking for. They label them odd things sometimes and you have to hunt down the schematics (as I did) just to find the right one.
Never cut two wires at the same time, or you can hook two circuits together that were not meant to be joined, as you now know.
I'm sure it's a red 10 amp fuse because I blew one myself. I lost both visor/vanity lights and my other interior lights. I guess you could have a different set of fuses than me, but either way, I'm sure it's a fuse. It's easier just to pull them out one at a time and check them. Good Luck.
